Bio
Thanks for listening to Alice at 95.5.  I've been doing afternoons on the station off and on (mostly on) since I moved here from Las Vegas in 2001.
I first knew I wanted to be in radio sometime in Junior High School in suburban Chicago.  I'm fortunate to be able to do what I do for a good company and to work with excellent people.

I've got two great kids Grace and Sonny.  We love to spend time at Springfield parks, the YMCA soccer fields, taking road trips to see their grandparents, grabbing a quick dinner at Qdoba, or curled up on the couch playing tickle time and watching PBS Kids shows on TIVO.

While I'm not from Springfield originally, I married my wife here and started my family here.  Springfield is as much a home for me as any other place I've lived.  Originally, I'm from the Cleveland Ohio area.  Since I was a kid I've followed Cleveland sports teams.  On Sundays you'll find my family watching the Cleveland Browns on a TV at one of the local sports-themed restaurants.

Once in a while we are able to line up a baby sitter and my wife and I love to go to Bijan's or Maria's for dinner, or just drive around our favorite neighborhoods in Springfield checking out houses for sale and making big plans.

My Last Day On Alice - Friday 3/19
Friday 03-19-2010 10:32am CT

Friends,

My wife and I moved to
Springfield in 2001.  We didn't expect what we would find here.  We found a true home.  We were married here, we started our family here.  My children are rooted here and we have dear friends that are like family.  So it's with mixed emotions that we have decided to accept a position in another radio market.

I have so many reasons to be proud of our accomplishments over 9 years here.  We've worked hard and I think we've delivered a station that people in Springfield love.  There have been subtle changes over the years, but the goal remains the same - provide Springfield area listeners with a fun, friendly, real sounding, upbeat station, A station with a strong local morning show and a station that uses it's signal to serve the community.

Kevin and Liz are incredible.  We're lucky to have them here in Springfield.  They're good enough to be anywhere that they choose to be - they choose Springfield.   They put me in a good mood every morning while I get ready for my workday, and I know you feel the same way.

The management here in Springfield is dedicated to providing the community with excellent options on the radio and the folks at US97, 100.5 The Wolf, ESPN1400 and 105.9 KGBX are the best in the business.  They take their responsibility to Ozarks area listeners seriously, even while having as much fun as possible.

As for me, I'm heading back to the town I grew up in, Cleveland Ohio.  I've accepted a position working in the same capacity on a radio station there.  I'm looking forward to that opportunity.

If you have any questions, feel free to send me an email tonymatteo@clearchannel.com

Thank You For Everything You've Done For Our Family.

Sincerely,

Tony Matteo

How about some silly, dumb, just-turn-your-brain-off-and-laugh kind of entertainment?

I can just see the the pitch meeting now.

Producer: Sell me your movie idea in 25 words or less
Writer: I only need 4 words.  Hot Tub Time Machine

Pearl Jam
Thursday 03-11-2010 1:00pm CT

Pearl Jam is coming to both St. Louis and Kansas City.

Here's where I get into the wayback machine for a second

One of the best shows I've ever seen.  Pearl Jam did a free show right at the beginning of their career on the hill in Lawrence KS.  That was 19 years ago.  I love this band and I can't wait to see them again. Road trip tour dates below.

May 3 KC - Sprint Center
May 4 St. Louis - Scottrade Center

R.I.P. Corey Haim

I'm a sucker for movies in the "Nerdy Guy Makes Good" genre.  Lucas is one of the better movies in that category.  Here's the trailer for Lucas with Corey Haim.

Lots of conversation in our building this week about the best all-time one hit wonders.  There are a million.

First, one of my favorite groups from the 90's really only had one legitimate hit.
Toad The Wet Sprocket "All I Want"

Now for some hokey 80's one hit wonders.
Who doesn't love dancing around the Maypole?  Safety Dance everybody!

Remember Alphaville's Forever Young.  Hear the original here.  And check out the awesome 80's album cover.

Jay Z samples it on the song "Young Forever" on his The Blueprint 3 album.  Check out the video here.
